FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What are Dual Studies?

“Dual Studies” is an educational system that combines theoretical study with practical application. Al-Quds University launched Dual Studies in 2015 with funding from the German Government through GIZ. It was designed to raise the professional level of Palestinian youth, provide good jobs for students after graduation, and bridge the gap between academic outcomes and the needs of the Palestinian labor market.

Do I receive any financial support during my studies?

There are chances to receive scholarships from the program or from Al-Quds University. Dual Studies students also receive a monthly allowance from their partner company for the practical periods they spend there, and distinguished students may join short-term apprenticeships in German companies.

What is the Dual Studies educational plan?

Teaching follows an accredited academic plan drafted by the academic staff of each program. Students complete a four-year bachelor’s degree, alternating between theoretical study and practical application every three months. An academic advisor follows up with each group.

Is Dual Studies accredited?

The Dual Studies programs are offered by Al-Quds University. The Electrical Engineering and Information Technology programs were accredited by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission.

How many credit hours do I need to graduate?

Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering require 165 credit hours; Information Technology and Business Administration require 140; Digital Business Management and Food Technology and Quality require 142. See each program page for details.

Where do theoretical and practical studies take place?

Theoretical study takes place at the Al-Quds University campus in Abu Dis for all programs, with a section in Beit Hanina for the Business Administration program. Practical periods are spent at Palestinian partner companies after passing a test and/or an interview.

What degree do I get when I graduate?

Students earn a Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree in their program after completing all its requirements.

How long is the study period?

Four years, divided equally between theoretical and practical periods, alternating every three months.

How long is the annual vacation?

Students get all official holidays set by the university during the theoretical study, plus a paid 7-day vacation from their partner company.
