Dual Studies (DS) is an educational system combining theoretical academic education and practical application, training and internship.
Al-Quds University launched the DS program in 2015 sponsored by the GIZ programme “Improving Job Opportunities for Young Palestinians” and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
DS has been designed to contribute to raising the professional level of Palestinian youth and providing good job opportunities for students after graduation. The DS program aims at bridging the gap between academic education on the one hand, and the need and requirements of the Palestinian labor market on the other,
influenced by the German paradigm and experience integrating the practical training in a work environment in the academic study plan since day one.
Enrolling in the DS program at Al-Quds University provides the students with the chance to practice a career as part of their bachelor studies in one of the specialized Palestinian companies. Moreover, believing in the rights of women, and recognizing their low participation in the labor market, DS encourages the participation of female students in the program.
Program Structure
The dual educational program is divided equally between on-campus learning and practical application and training in more than 200 partner companies and enterprises in the Palestinian private sector. The 4-year study cycle is comprised of 8 semesters, half of which take place in campus (theoretical phase), while the other half in a professional work environment (practical phase).
